Instructions
For Bread
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Scald milk and pour into a large bowl. Add butter, sugar, and salt; stir until mixed.
Blend in dissolved yeast. Add 3 cups of flour gradually, mixing well. Add and beat in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough until smooth and elastic. Put dough into a greased large bowl and turn dough to grease top. Cover bowl. Let rise in a warm place until the dough is doubled.
Prepare Walnut Filling. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Punch dough down and divide into 6 portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 12” square. Spread dough with a sixth of filling. Roll up and place the seam side down on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until browned.
For Filling
Crush walnuts and vanilla wafers in an electric blender. Move blend into a large bowl. Add sugar, cinnamon, con syrup, butter and milk; mix well, adding more milk, if necessary, until good consistency to spread.
